Raising the profile of engineering and supporting young people
In large measure The ERA Foundation has "out-sourced" these activities by making gift-aid donations in 2004 to the Royal Academy of Engineering (£8M) and the Royal Commission for the Exhibition of 1851 (£2M).

These donations will result in -

Extension of the 1851 Industrial Fellowships scheme in the general areas of electrotechnology, IT-systems and telecommunications.
The Royal Academy is using the Foundation's donation to launch several initiatives to promote the importance of engineering, especially to young engineers.

The Foundation will consider making similar gift-aid donations in the future to organisations which can help raise the profile of engineering and encourage young people to pursue careers in electrotechnology, IT-systems and telecommunications.
