| In large measure The ERA Foundation has
"out-sourced" these activities by making gift-aid donations
in 2004 to the
Royal Academy of Engineering (£8M) and
the
Royal Commission for the Exhibition of 1851
(£2M). These donations will result in -

|
Extension of the 1851 Industrial Fellowships scheme in
the general areas of electrotechnology, IT-systems and
telecommunications. |

The Royal Academy is using the Foundation's donation to
launch several initiatives to promote the importance of
engineering, especially to young engineers. |
The Foundation will consider making similar gift-aid
donations in the future to organisations which can help
raise the profile of engineering and encourage young people
to pursue careers in electrotechnology, IT-systems and
telecommunications. |
