Nick Brierley graduated from the University of Cambridge
with a degree in Natural Sciences (Physics) and
Management Studies in 2008. During his time there, he
won a Foundation Scholarship and the Jesus College Prize
for Management Studies. He also spent a summer working
at the Max-Planck-Institut für Metallforschung,
Stuttgart, Germany on a placement sponsored by the
Armourers and Brasiers’ Company.
Since then, working in close collaboration with RWE
Npower, Nick has started an Engineering Doctorate (EngD)
at Imperial College London, in the Non-Destructive
Evaluation (NDE) group. The research project sets out to
develop a broadly applicable software system for the
semi-automatic analysis of automatically acquired NDE
data, with the overall aim of improving the reliability
of the inspection. The work is supported by a funding
award from the ERA Foundation, through the Royal
Commission for the Exhibition of 1851.
Outside of work, Nick is a keen triathlete, having
previously rowed at Cambridge, including a stint
trialling with Cambridge University Lightweight Rowing
Club. |
